My biggest mistake of 2010
The 2010 fantasy football regular season is coming to an end. There are only a few more weeks before the playoffs start and leagues around the county will crown their champions. It’s that time of year when owners look back on all their successes and mistakes. Alright…mistakes. I am no exception. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (yes, I named my team after a Canadian team) sit in third...

R.I.P. Jose Lima
I always say that there are three Dodger games that are the best I ever attended, all from 2004. First, there’s the Steve Finley walk-off grand slam game. Second, there’s a Dodgers-Yankees game. And third, there’s Jose Lima’s complete game against St. Louis in the 2004 NLDS. Lima died of a heart attack early yesterday morning. Here’s the article at MLB.com: ...

Don't be a hero, Andre
Andre Ethier has been the biggest offensive force in the National League, and possible the entire MLB, so far this season. He’s hitting .392 (1st in MLB), with 11 home runs (1st in NL, 3rd in MLB), and 38 RBIs (1st in MLB). And now he’s temporarily sidelined with a broken pinkie. So the big question on every Dodger fan’s mind right now is “How long will he be...

Garrett Jones fail
So add another one to the list of hilarious injuries suffered by MLB players. Pirates first baseman Garrett Jones missed Saturday’s game against the Dodgers because he had food lodged in his throat. Apparently, Jones was eating after the game and had trouble swallowing a piece of food on Friday night, and after experiencing pain in his chest the next morning, decided to go to the...

Things to watch for in 2010
We’re about a week away from Opening Day 2010, as the long winter will finally give way to the Boys of Summer. This season looks to be a good one, so here are the things you should be watching for… Jason Heyward - There hasn’t been hype like the hype for this kid in a long time. The Braves new right fielder has generated some great expectations, and it will be interesting to...

A link on Heyward →
It was basically a foregone conclusion (despite my efforts to discourage Braves fans otherwise, mainly out of spite), but Jason Heyward has made the Braves opening day roster, and will, in fact, be starting in rightfield. Here’s the story on MLB.com, it’s pretty interesting. He seems like an interesting guy. He’s going to be an interesting guy to watch.

Check this out, it's a good read →
A piece on spring training by ESPN.com’s Tim Kurkjian. There’s some interesting stuff, and some pretty fun stuff, so check it out.

The end of a comeback
While it wasn’t exactly huge news, one of the more interesting stories this offseason was the Dodgers signing of their former Cy Young Award winning closer, Eric Gagne. Right away, there was speculation as to whether or not he’d be able to make a comeback, whether or not he could even be useful in any way. Yesterday, we got our answer. No, he cannot. It seems like nothing, on the...

What we can learn from Ron Washington
It came out today that Rangers manager Ron Washington tested positive for cocaine during the 2009 season. Here’s the story on ESPN.com: http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=5003261 This is no small matter. Any drug use in sports, whatever the case, is always something to be concerned about. It is worth noting, however, that the way Washington handled his situation is perhaps...

Everybody just calm down!
So apparently some people need to just chill. Yesterday, Cliff Lee was ejected from a Mariners-D’Backs game for throwing at Chris Snyder, in apparent retaliation for a play the inning before where the two collided at the plate, knocking Lee to the ground. Here’s the story on it:...

2010 Preview (Part 6 of 6)
This is the final part of a six-part series previewing the 2010 season, division by division. The final installment: The NL East. National League East Philadelphia Phillies New York Mets Florida Marlins Atlanta Braves Washington Nationals The Phillies had a chance to not only become favorites for the East, but also for a World Series title. They blew that as soon as they traded away Cliff...

2010 Preview (Part 5 of 6)
This is part five of a six-part series previewing the 2010 season, division by division. National League Central St. Louis Cardinals Milwaukee Brewers Houston Astros Chicago Cubs Cincinnati Reds Pittsburgh Pirates The standings posted here are actually a bit misleading. Let me post them again, with spacing in between them representing how far apart they will actually be in the standings. ...

2010 Preview (Part 4 of 6)
This is part four of a six part series breaking down each division for the 2010 season. This post marks the first of the three NL divisions, beginning with the west… National League West Los Angeles Dodgers San Francisco Giants Arizona Diamondbacks Colorado Rockies San Diego Padres It’s no secret that the Dodgers didn’t get to spend as much as they might have liked this...

2010 Preview (Part 3 of 6)
This is part three of a six part series breaking down each division for 2010. American League East New York Yankees Boston Red Sox Tampa Bay Rays Toronto Blue Jays Baltimore Orioles Sorry Yankee haters (myself included), but it looks like it’s going to be another year of dominance from the team everyone loves to hate. They’ve got one of the best, if not the very best, rotation...

2010 Preview (Part 2 of 6)
Today’s post is part two of a six part series in which I will break down each division for the 2010 season. Today: the AL Central American League Central Minnesota Twins Detroit Tigers Chicago White Sox Kansas City Royals Cleveland Indians The AL Central is already looking like it will be a repeat of last year. In what could be called one of the weaker divisions in the MLB, the Twins...

2010 Preview (Part 1 of 6)
Today’s post is the first of a six-part series in which I will break down each division for the 2010 season. I’ll start with predictions of how each team will finish, and then go into details about the placement of each one. Obviously these could change within the next month. There are several players who remain unsigned, but the basic structure will most likely remain the same. ...

Target Field →
Apart from the Joe Mauer extension, the big story right now in the Twins world is the upcoming debut of Target Field, which will replace the Metrodome as the Twins homefield. While hanging around MLB.com yesterday, I happened to stumble across something pretty cool. Since construction began in June of 2007, there has been a web cam pointed at the stadium documenting its progress. You can...
